About Us

Eco construction and energy efficiency

With the constant rise in the price of heating fuel, gas and electricity, it makes sense to find ways of reducing our energy consumption and protecting the environment at the same time.

In the last few years we’ve seen an astonishing leap forward in all areas of sustainable construction and renovation with large companies investing in what they see as the future of the building industry.
Only a few years ago the idea of building in straw was generally considered to be wacky and dangerous (probably due to the tale of the three pigs). Now, thankfully, straw building techniques are being taken seriously with their own professional codes and architects specializing in the technique.

It’s an interesting fact that in most cases, the materials we are seeing appear on the market haven’t been invented but rediscovered having served well for centuries before being swept off the shelves in favour of “modern” industrialized alternatives.

If you are looking for ideas on how to make your renovation or new build more agreeable to live in, and reduce your heating bills, it's time to get in touch with us.

Later this year we’ll be taking on our first timber frame eco-extension with cellulose insulation. It's going to be an exciting project so look out for the photos in the gallery
